Department:  Truss Design                                       Reports to: General Manager

Summary: The Engineered Products Designer designs engineered wood products for roof, floors, and wall systems used in commercial and residential projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must learn all facets of blue print take-offs.
  • Must learn / be knowledgeable in all areas of the software programs used.
  • Must accurately quote out projects per customer’s specifications in a timely manner, and follow through with established checks / balance procedures.
  • Assist customers in the design and planning of construction projects in a courteous and pleasant manner.
  • Design engineered products to meet criteria established by customer to meet all state and county codes as well as sound engineering / construction practices and follow the procedural guidelines of the Design Group.
  • Present finished layouts and shop drawing for all sold jobs, and make necessary alterations.
  • Use resources available to enhance sales, and continually strive to improve sales and communication skills.
  • Assist in both the office, and field, as needed.
  • Assist in estimating all materials supported by the company, as required.
  • Cooperate with all personnel, policies, and programs, in such a way as to always enhance the image of the company, each division, and employee.
  • Use own good judgment and abilities to support the best interests of the company in all situations and to perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description:

The Estimator / Sales Specialist is responsible to accurately estimate projects for a variety of customers.  Also responsible for training, development, and support of staff as it relates to estimating services.  By selling solutions, value and service, this person will grow professional relationships with customers, and communicate company vision, products, and services to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide training/educating employees in estimating and building practices as required
  • Provide accurate building material take-off, estimating, value engineering and providing solutions to customers building multi-family, hotel, assisted living facility, and/or similar structures
  • Provide accurate building material take-off, estimating, value engineering and providing solutions to homeowner, contractor and/or house accounts as required
  • Organize proposals and present to customers.

Summary:  Payroll / HR Specialist provides payroll and administrative support to the Human Resource department on all personnel matters.  Meet established departmental goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Tracks & processes employee hours and timecards including temporary employees.
  • Handle complex payroll processing, reports, reconciliations, payroll taxes, year-end procedures and W-2’s for multi-state employees.
  • Process off-cycle paychecks, paycheck reversals and tax adjustments, collections/overpayment tracking, reporting deductions and earnings accurately.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of all mandatory and voluntary deductions as well as garnishment, liens, direct deposit requests, 401(k), insurance, etc.
  • Create and analyze regular and special reports through HRIS/Payroll system reporting.
  • Investigate complex inquiries from and respond to taxing agencies.
  • Processes paperwork for new hires and terminations – I9 verification, reference checks, online background investigation, MVR, & orientation training.
  • Use payroll employment & compensation history to respond to unemployment claims.
  • Participates in benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and approve invoices for payment.
  • Assists in maintaining documentation of training completed.
  • Assists HR department with various research projects and/or special projects.
  • Performs filing, mail distribution, making photocopies, scanning, faxing documents and performs other clerical functions.
  • Assists with administering and compliance of company policies as it relates to procedures and reporting.

    • Window & exterior door quoting using blue-prints or other information given by customers
    • Identify product brand and specs. with customers

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately enter quotes and orders with all information needed to ensure successful interaction with operations.
  • Receive and process incoming internal parts orders. Notify co-workers of the receipt of the parts and when necessary, schedule the service appointment in which parts are to be installed
  • Collect and process payments for window/door service calls
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of window service parts; reporting this data to outside suppliers as requested
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of select window and exterior door stock items
  • Greeting customers as they enter our office/showroom
  • Writing up walk-in and phone-in customers’ orders
  • Assisting customers with product, delivery, and service status information
  • Coordinate installations & perform scheduling and paperwork for installed overhead garage doors & window service.
  • Assist with scheduling work crews to meet customer’s schedule, and coordinating the material/labor.

Drives a tractor with one or more trailers (18-wheel) on public streets or highways to transport materials and merchandise.  May load or unload truck using forklift, Moffett and Skytrak equipment.  Responsible for securing the load using approved devices and methods.  Requires a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Summary: Material Handler is a general warehouse labor job responsible for all aspects of material handling (stocking and credits) and serving customer’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate a gas or electric powered forklift truck or hand-truck to move, stack, load, or unload materials in and about the facility, warehouse, yard, staging area, etc.
  • Move materials from one location to another.
  • Load and unload trucks and train cars and move material within the warehouse and yards.
  • Assist with stocking of materials within warehouse.
  • Greet customers and assist them with their product pick up
  • Use banding and shrink wrap machines, additional packaging may be required
  • Pull orders together and assemble them for shipment to customers or distribution centers
  • Gathering or distributing product or materials within the warehouse or yard
  • Workers may use bar code readers, computer terminals or other electronic devices to track product.
  • General knowledge on all of Zeeland Lumber’s products and WMS/ERP systems

Summary:  The Human Resource Manager provides support for the Northern Indiana branches.  Human Resources Manager administers policies, recommends and implements approved programs designed to protect company and team member interests in accordance with company HR policies and governmental laws and regulations.  Areas of involvement include employment, compensation, benefits, payroll, organizational development, employee relations, performance management, training, recruitment and safety, plus additional responsibilities as assigned from time-to-time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the latest knowledge base of Human Resources legal issues and ensure the organization’s adherence to all relevant employment laws/practices.
  • Provide guidance and input on Northern Indiana restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Develop talent acquisition strategies and implements plans and programs to identify candidates.  Perform all functions of recruiting process.
  • Coordinate with direct supervisors and managers in regards to timely and accurate completion of performance evaluations
  • Proactively coach team members and managers to support a high performing team environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records administration for Northern Indiana including but not limited to workers’ compensation, risk management, safety, wellness, benefit and unemployment claims
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Performs payroll and time/attendance administration by maintaining HRIS records and compiles reports from ADP database as needed.
  • Performs filing, mail distribution, making photocopies, scanning, faxing documents and performs other clerical functions.
  • Collaborate with extended HR team on various research projects, community involvement, and/or special projects.
